Obama Comments on ISIS Attacks and Assures U.S. Safety

President Barrack Obama assured U.S citizens that their beloved country would be safe during the Thanksgiving weekend. Obama delivered the heartwarming speech last Wednesday at the White House. He urged U.S. citizens to remain peaceful and vigilant and emphasized nothing like the Paris attacks will happen in the United States. He also said there has been no credible reports that have pointed to a specific ‘plot on U.S.’ He assured citizens that the government will not rest until it has destroyed ISIS.

Obama praised the U.S. security team saying, “They are working overtime. They are continually monitoring threats at home and abroad. They are constantly working to protect all of us.” Before the speech, President Obama held a security meeting that lasted for an hour in the Situation Room. Those in the meeting included Homeland Security Secretary Jeh Johnson, Director of Federal Bureau of Investigation James Comey, and the FBI Director and Attorney General Loretta Lynch.

Obama provided a hopeful message to U.S. citizens after the Paris bombings. He said, “It’s understandable that people worry something similar could happen here. As we go into Thanksgiving weekend, what I want the American people to know is that we are taking every possible step to keep our homeland safe,” This speech came after Obama and French President Hollande called for a united Western effort to see the ouster of Islamic State.

His remarks on Wednesday came at a time when American people were not sure of his strategy for combating terrorism. In fact, it is a few days earlier when CBC News unleashed polls that showed more than 65% of Americans questioned Obama’s ability to combat terror. The polls indicated that Obama had no elaborate plan to finish ISIS.

Obama replied that his government is doing all it can to silence the terror group. “We continue to work to choke off their financing and their supply lines… we will not let up,” Obama said.

On November 13, 2015, more than 130 people died in Paris, France, and ISIS confirmed their responsibility for the attacks. Investigators claim that the ringleader was planning another attack on a French CBD. According to earlier plans, the attack was to take place a week after the November 13 terror attack.
